Public Relations: Ketchum (New York)

2007 New York Summer Internship Program

Ketchum’s New York office is now accepting applications for its ten-week summer internship program that begins June 4th and ends August 10th. This is a paid internship, but we will also work with you and your school to support academic credit, if applicable.

The application deadline is February 26, 2007. Applicants must be between their junior and senior year and available for the entire 10 weeks to be considered.

Overview of Job Function
Interns will be placed on an account team and assist with project research, writing and media relations efforts to support client programs. In addition to account work, during the last half of the program interns will work as a team on a final project where they will create a Public Relations program for one of our existing clients. In addition to creating the program the interns will have the opportunity to present the program to our management team.

Responsibilities
– Develop and maintain media lists
– Monitor and track media and write media updates
– Prepare pitch letters and pitch media
– Assist in the development of press materials including fact sheets and backgrounders
– Attend client and team meetings
– Write client and/or team memos
– Assist with research for new business opportunities and client presentations
– Assist with event coordination
– Participate in brainstorms
– Participate in internal meetings and agency events

Minimum Qualifications
1. College student who is between their junior and senior year
2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
3. Flexibility to work on a variety of projects
4. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
5. Must have a basic understanding of public relations through course work or prior internship experience
6. Must be available for the entire length of the internship program

Interns will be assigned to work with account teams in one of the following areas:

– Brand Marketing Practice
– Food & Wellness Practice
– Communications, Media, Strategy Group
– Healthcare Practice
– Corporate Practice
– Issues & Crisis Group– Corporate Communications
– Ketchum Sports Network
– Design / Creative Services

In addition to account work, interns will also be expected to attend professional development seminars, fieldtrips and work in teams on a final client assignment.
