Jesuit Volunteer Corps – Communication intern

Communications Intern for Jesuit Volunteer Corps

Jesuit Volunteer Corps is seeking an undergraduate student or recent college graduate to intern throughout the fall semester. As an essential part of a two-person department, the communications intern gains hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, which provides more context to academic lessons and professional skills for a career in public relations.

The intern is asked to dedicate 15 – 20 hours per week, for a minimum of 10 weeks, with hours organized around class or work schedules. No evening or weekend work required.

Tasks are assigned based on personal interests and strengths. Standard duties include creating coverage reports, strengthening media lists, organizing online photo storage, moderate design projects, and creating or posting content for online outlets.

A successful intern has a solid writing portfolio, strong web research skills, is able to stick to a deadline, has an interest in graphic and/or web design, experience with social networking sites like YouTube and Facebook, and an interest in JVC's work for peace and justice. Experience with Associated Press or Chicago Manual of Style, photography, or videography a plus.

This position is unpaid, but can be tailored to meet course credit requirements.

JVC offers women and men an opportunity to work full-time for justice and peace in 39 U.S. cities and 6 foreign countries. Our Baltimore headquarters in the Mount Vernon Cultural District has 13 full-time employees to support more than 300 Jesuit Volunteers and 11,000 friends and supporters.

If interested, please send a resume and cover letter to aross@jesuitvolunteers.org. Include information about your available dates.

Applications are also being accepted for the fall, winter, and summer semesters.
