Public Relations: Baltimore City Recreation and Parks

BALTIMORE CITY DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION AND PARKS
PR INTERNS

Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks needs creative and enthusiastic fall/spring/summer interns to tackle a variety of assignments. Our multi-faceted office handles the full spectrum of marketing, advertising, public relations, communications and strategic planning.

This is no ordinary internship. While we may ask you to make a few photocopies, our expectation is that you will contribute fully as a part of our team. Your reward: hands-on experience working with local government, campaigns and helping children.

Interns will work directly with experienced PR specialists and award-winning graphic designers on assignments. Duties include, but are not limited to, writing and editing, media research, drafting support materials (press releases, pitch letters, etc.) and other tasks as warranted.

This should be a great opportunity for someone who is looking to build his or her skill set and resume. As an added bonus, it is a great place to work with great people. These internships are only for those who are serious about pursuing a career in public relations or writing.

Successful intern candidates will be: junior- or senior-status with at least one previous internship. Graduate students are also welcome to apply; superb writers, with the clips to prove it; creative; flexible, enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working; dedicated to making a difference and loves working with children; gracious, diplomatic, flexible and able to thrive under pressure; resourceful researchers; computer savvy—familiar with Bacon’s and the Internet; ability to have fun; able to maintain a sense of humor. Graphic arts or photography experience a plus.

Submit a cover letter, resume and two published writing samples to kia.mcleod@baltimorecity.gov or via fax: (410) 889-3856. No telephone calls, please. Internships are paid; negotiable based on experience.
