SUMMARY:

This part-time position is responsible for assisting incoming Cristo Rey Jesuit High School freshmen and their parents/guardians to complete scholarship applications. In addition, the intern will provide the development office with general administrative support as needed.

JOB DUTIES:

• Contacts parents/guardians of incoming Cristo Rey Jesuit students via mail and telephone to inform them of their eligibility for scholarship opportunities.

• Schedules meetings at Cristo Rey Jesuit with students and parents/guardians and assists them with filling out scholarship applications.

• Obtains necessary financial documentation (tax returns, food stamp forms, etc.) from parents/guardians to complete scholarship applications.

• Ensures that all completed scholarship applications are sent to the relevant donor organizations on time.

• Assists the development staff with various administrative duties. These may include: addressing and mailing letters and invitations, making phone calls, assisting at school-wide and fundraising events, filing, creating information packets for prospective donors, etc.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Intern should be a current college student or a recent college graduate. Previous experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred. Must present a professional and articulate image in person and in writing, demonstrate customer service skills, organize and prioritize work, and pay strict attention to detail. Must be able to identify, analyze and solve problems and know when to seek supervisory consultation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The development intern reports directly to the director of development. The incumbent will interact daily with a diverse group of internal and external contacts including students and their parents/guardians, volunteers, and all levels of staff and will be held accountable for implementing and enforcing customer service excellence. The incumbent will perform a range of administrative details of a highly confidential nature on a regular basis, requiring initiative, discretion and sound judgment and will be expected to make independent decisions within the identified scope of authority. The incumbent will be expected to remain flexible to the changing needs of the department.
