Description: Detail-oriented intern needed to assist Vice President of Events & Marketing with events managed by the organization including conferences, executive meetings and company events. Responsibilities include sponsorship paperwork, registration assistance, travel arrangements, board correspondence, event program review, arranging exhibit materials at other events, etc. 25-40 hours per week as your schedule allows plus travel to larger events. Possibility for permanent employment for the right candidate after internship.

JOB TITLE: Marketing/Public Relations Intern

SALARY: Non-paid/complimentary parking provided.

DEPARTMENT: 1st Mariner Arena Marketing/Public Relations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assists with the generation and distribution of press releases, press statements, feature stories and public service announcements concerning the Arena and its events.

* Assists in the organization of promotional and publicity campaigns centered on Arena events.

* Assists with the coordination of trade for tickets and promotions with radio and newspaper outlets.

* Monitors newspaper for Arena advertisements and listings.

* Assists in organizing event recaps and media follow-ups.

* Assists in taking ticket orders for VIP holds.

* Help to cover receptionist desk for a 1 hour time period, as needed.

* Various public relations projects as assigned.

*We consider our interns a part of our department; responsibility is a large component in the experience.


Events include family shows such as Sesame Street, Circus, Disney on Ice, Wrestling, Concerts, etc. and several special events.



REPORTS TO: Marketing & Public Relations Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

10 -20 hours a week (3 days preferred)

Course work in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related areas of study.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Photoshop a plus.

The Baltimore Examiner is a free daily newspaper covering news and features in Baltimore City and County and Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.

Credit-based internships are available in local news, spot news, courts and cops, editorial, features, sports and photography. We also offer web experience. We offer one-on-one mentoring, daily interaction with an editor and weekly coaching sessions focused on improving writing and style. Experience with multi-media presentations and Web publishing also available.
