Title: Intern - Research & Development Communications
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Req: 5155

Supporting the R&D Communications by assisting in the generation and production of communications materials, including intranet articles, talking points and presentations. Play an integral role in supporting MedImmune's Research and Development organization. In addition, assist in event management and other key company initiatives such as the company meetings. Other key duties include:
- Work on the design, scheduling and production of internal promotional materials
- Create, write, edit and/or post content to the company's intranet site
- Create, write, edit and publish the company's weekly html news digest
- Coordinate with sites both domestically and internationally in the support of company-sponsored events and activities

Position: Candidates must be available to work full-time during the summer and consistently on a part time basis for the entire duration of the 2011/2012 school year.
Strong written and verbal communication skills essential (business writing, editing, presentations, and professional phone demeanor). Scientific writing experience or completed coursework in science classes is a plus. Skilled at web navigation, and capable of using Internet and information sources for research. Solid project management skills and experience. Ability to handle multiple priorities and think independently. Understanding of and experience with communication disciplines such as graphic design, advertising, marketing and internal communications. Proficiency in Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. High attention to detail and ability to identify key messages. Willingness to learn.
Education: Junior or senior undergraduate (or graduate) student with cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher (on 4.0 scale). Preference given to students with demonstrated leadership skills and a wide array of interests/activities. Passing of the Company's standard drug screening and background check.
Presently pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Human Resources or Finance.

This is a full year internship opportunity and it is preferred for candidtes to immediately on a part time basis and will be full time during the summer. This internship opportunity is not limited to the summer and will extend into the upcoming school year on a consistent part time basis with the possibility for college credit.

Relocation and travel expense reimbursement is not available for this position.
