GENERAL INTERNSHIP INFORMATION
Length
The position is open for as long as the student would like, but with a minimum length of 70 to 90 days with a commitment of 15 to 25 hours per week. Each internship will be project based and will vary in length based on the requirements of the projects to which interns are assigned. Project assignments will be based on an evaluation of needs, skills, and interests.

Qualifications
These positions are open to all college level students with interests in marketing, public relations, advertising, or related fields. Must be organized, motivated, willing to work long hours during marketing campaigns.

Credit / Compensation
Compensation depends on your work program as defined in the job description and the number of hours worked. Depending on the Institution you attend, “for credit” internship options may be available, which will affect our ability to compensate based on program rules.

SALES/MARKETING INTERN
The Sales/Marketing Intern will work directly with the management team of Friends & Farms to assist with the creation of marketing plans, sales techniques, market research, competitive research, and sales training methods.
Job Responsibilities:

• Working to plan and implement one complete promotional event per quarter under guidance of management staff
• Assisting with creation of marketing and promotional materials and other print and electronic collateral material.

• Developing an outreach and media plan to assist with market expansion activities.
• Assisting with design and implementation of an ongoing training protocol of Friends & Farms outside sales staff.
• Assisting with the development of an ongoing market research program that actively tracks key competitors’ product lines and pricing strategies.
• Assisting with the creation of a product development process.
• Revising and updating the customer communication strategy.
• Developing a feedback and tracking program to assure positive customer relations experience after the sale.
• Other duties as assigned-- general web marketing.

Job Requirements:
• Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
• Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong writing skills
• Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, or desire to gain competency
• Experience with analysis of market data

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
The Social Media Intern will contribute to the development of the company's online marketing and outreach strategies. By monitoring key online social networking sites, the Intern will be involved with the company's web strategy to assure customer communications at all touch points are maximized and to ensure a positive customer experience.


Job Responsibilities:
• Work with owners to moderate message boards, manage blog activities, develop email campaigns, and interact with the Friends & Farms community.
• Serve as the information hub, communicator and daily monitor for online activities within Friends & Farms internal and external communities.
• Manage user submitted media, messages and emails.
• Monitor web activities for inappropriate content, spammers or content to be promoted.
• Manage user experience with how-to documentation and useful tips in communications.
• Oversee special sponsorship and contest programs and tagging.
• Manage positive community site experience through customer service and support.
• Manage content for email newsletters from internal and external contributors.
• Participate in forums, blogs and relevant communities representing Friends & Farms.
• Participate in other online communities, as necessary. Job Requirements:
• Intermediate-expert knowledge in online social communities.

Maryland Agricultural Resource Council - marketing/public relations/event management

The Maryland Agricultural Resource Council (MARC) seeks two summer interns. MARC is a 501c(3) non-profit trade organization, organized for the benefit of the citizens of Maryland to enhance the rural economy and to foster conservation of agricultural and natural resources through educational and technical services. The position will report to the organization’s executive director.

The internship is unpaid and interns are expected to work on-site for at least 8-10 hours each week. MARC’s office is located on the 150-acre Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park, on Shawan Road, one mile west of I-83 exit 20B and across from the Oregon Ridge Park. Some duties may be performed out of the office, but interns will benefit from the collaborative work environment.

This internship will provide a valuable learning experience with a variety of tasks and educational activities.

DUTIES Communications:
• Creating a web-based calendar, tracking statewide agricultural events and trainings.
• Developing a current press list.
• Creating a monthly e-newsletter to be distributed to our membership.
• Attend MARC Board meetings and MARC Executive Committee meetings.


Public Relations:
• Helping to get our new website launched and keeping it up to date.
• Designing and overseeing a social media framework that will work for MARC long-term.
• Providing occasional online maintenance.
• Assisting in managing MARC’s fundraisers, special events and festivals.
